Enjoy the view of the majestic Lake Ontario from Harbourfront Centre
Harbourfront Centre is one of the most beautiful areas you will want to visit over and over during your stay in Toronto.
The view of Ontario Lake and the imposing towers gives a sense of tranquillity amid urban realities of downtown.
The Wavedeck, an artistic version of a bridge, is also found in the Centre.
This is one of the places where we visited more than twice during our first months here.
Harbourfront Centre, GPS: 43.6388604,-79.3836637, is part of Toronto’s waterfront with 40,469 square meters of land area, including two marinas and three parking facilities.
Managed by a non-profit organization, government grants for a third of its budget financially support the centre. Hosting events and programs fill in the remaining two-thirds of the budget.
One of its strategy of meeting the budgetary requirements is to invite volunteers to contribute time and skills. In fact, around 2,000 volunteers assist the organization every year during its events.
Yearly, Harbourfront Centre holds more than 4,000 events and exhibits.
Primarily focused on arts and cultures, 40,000+ children visitor per year visit the Centre during field trips and camp excursions.
Most of the events held in Harbourfront Centre are free of charge, or minimally priced. Sustaining and supporting businesses in the area is key to attaining the goals of the Centre.
The easiest way to visit Harbourfront Centre is to ride the TTC and go to Union Station terminal. From Union Station, transfer to westbound streetcar 509 or westbound streetcar 510, both of which will take you to “Queens Quay Ferry Docks Terminal” where you should hop off.
For real-time guides and maps on your phone to help you navigate to Harbourfront Centre, you can use the TTC Website (click 509’s Westbound link, or 510’s Northbound link), Moovit app, or Google Maps.
