Have Some Fun at Canada’s Wonderland

On August 10th, my friends and I went to Wonderland for our summer camp. Click here for location.

Wonderland - PsycloneUs trying to be brave, we decided to ride the Leviathan first. At first, I didn’t want to go but they persuaded me into riding it. We dropped off our bags and we sat down with me on the outside edge and my two friends in the inner seats.

About a minute into the ride, I immediately realized what a terrible mistake it was. On the first and longest drop, one of my friends fainted and the other was yelling in my ear. I kind of fainted. I couldn’t move at all for a little bit and it like I froze.

Lesson learned when I go back to Wonderland, never hop on Leviathan ever again, and never let your friends coax you into riding a three-minute deathly ride.

After we got off, my brother and the other people from the camp decided to ride the Drop Tower. The Tower was a tall structure that brings you up to the top and drops you.

As I watched, I noticed that one of my fellow campers looked like he was being possessed by a demon as he was dropped. His eyes rolled to the back of his head and it made him look like he was on the set of the Exorcist.

Later, my brother revealed that he’s not going on another ride because the Leviathan and the Tower was enough. One more aggressive-thrill ride and he would throw up.

Wonderland also has a ride called The Rage, which is basically a swinging boat that swings back and forth. It goes higher every time, but luckily I didn’t throw up. My friend was yelling at me the entire time, trying to distract herself from the fact that she was about to throw up.

After the Rage, one of my friends and I decided not to go on any more rides because we were done with aggressive rides. After lunch, however, we still went on bumper cars. I learned that I am a terrible bumper-car driver, as we got stuck many times. Haha, halfway through, my friend started screaming again and she dropped her cotton candy. They had to stop everything so that she could pick it up again.

We went to an arcade while waiting for the food in our stomachs to settle down. My brother bought 200 credits and we played a round of House of the Dead 4. I don’t recommend the faint-hearted to play this. After the round, my brother took his chance at a claw machine that had cards inside with tickets (tickets are basically the currency at an arcade, it’s what you use to buy toys and things with).

The first round, he won one card that contained 250 tickets. He played another round but unfortunately, he didn’t win anything that round. He moved on to another claw machine, but this time had stuffies and emoji pillows inside. We played two rounds until he finally said the third time would be the last turn. On his last turn, however, he was aiming to get a purple-and-blue stuffy, but he missed and it caught the smirking emoji pillow instead. I did steal it from him and it is now my favourite pillow ever. We went back to the first claw machine and my brother won another card.

There was this one ride that I wanted to go on, but once I saw how far up it goes, I immediately backed out. Just watching it almost made me puke. That ride was called the Psyclone. It would swing you from one side to another, gradually

My other friend went on many more rides while Lizzie and I just stayed put, eating candy and getting on a sugar high. While they rode on more carnival rides, my brother, Lizzie, another kid and I went to another arcade. We just bought toys with our tickets. We checked the ticket balance of all our cards. It turns out that the second card my brother had a thousand – yes, you read that right – tickets.

Finally, after about half a dozen rides later, we all settled down. One of our camp councilors bought us funnel cakes, which we shared with each other. After eating our cakes, it was time to say goodbye to Wonderland so we walked back to the bus and most of us fell asleep.

Since my friends and I live quite far away from the camp, we got home at around 10 PM. Overall, although the experience was really thrilling and fun, I don’t think I would ever really go back since I didn’t like many of the rides.
